Non-denominational and Ecumenical
Spiritual and Emotional Support for Life Experiences
For discovering what spirituality means for us and how it can support us through life experiences, especially transitional ones.
I see love as the heart of spirituality - a connection with something outside ourself (nature, music, a group, a person, higher power, a Divine Source, etc.) that then can connect us with something inside ourself - our spirit, our center, our love, our soul, Divine Source - however we recognize it. A deep strength for self-support.
Spirituality - how we connect with and express our loving nature, and how it can guide us to the vision or purpose we have for our life.
What may block us are negative thoughts, feelings, conditioning, judgments (feeling unworthy or unforgivable, childhood concepts of God, angry with God, etc.) and life experiences that raise difficult issues and questions.
We can identify and explore those questions, and create those practices that will help us to move forward (acceptance, forgiveness of self and others, relationship with your body, etc.) in greater awareness and expression of our unique purpose and spirituality, perhaps also in service to others.

Spirituality groups help us to become aware of what spirituality is for us, what role it does or not hold in our lives, and how it can be a supportive resource or foundation for us, especially during transitional life experiences.
Key concepts are: nourishment for the spirit and soul; each person matters; connection - with our inner strength and with others, maybe including a higher power or Divine Source.
For the members, spirituality groups are multi-cultural, non-denominational and ecumenical. They encompass shared experiences. Even though our individual stories may differ, the core issues are very similar. We often share common responses and reactions.
For example, hearing beautiful music makes many of us feel spiritual, regardless of denominational beliefs. With that experience of oneness, we are more likely to support one another because often we have encountered similar difficulties and can provide understanding and support. A spirituality group is not based on belief because beliefs can vary among different people.
The groups can help members to connect with others and to express their caring to another member. Saying 'you're not alone' is a way of expressing caring or loving. If people can connect with their loving, that's a very deep strength for self-support.
Providing spiritual and emotional support to staff members, helping them to maintain connection with their inner foundation, re-visit their meaning for their work and enhance their sense of oneness with other staff members, residents/clients and the institution.
To foster group sharing and supporting each other. We all have the same basic issues; we just manifest them differently. Topics include Acceptance, Forgiveness of Self and Others, Relationship with Your Body (not about diet and exercise), Opening to Your Loving Self.
Classes and presentations can be one hour or two hours. Please see the list below of the topics available. If your group has a particular need, a class or presentation can be customized to address that need.
What may block our spirituality are negative thoughts and feelings, negative conditioning and judgments (e.g. feeling unworthy or unforgivable, or angry with God, etc.). We can identify and let go of whatever may be blocking our awareness and growth, and then connect more fully with our inner loving and spiritual heart. We can create those experiences and practices that will help us to move forward in greater awareness and expression of our unique spirituality, perhaps also in service to others. Meetings could be half an hour or an hour.
Jan Collins presented a program at our center titled "Are You Encouraging Yourself or Discouraging Yourself?" I enjoyed Jan's program and as someone who gives programs myself was impressed by the flow of her presentation. The evaluations of the members who attended this presentation were also excellent.I do recommend Jan's programs; she has a natural flow and grace to her presentations.
